Junglesport Inc.Adventure Learning A multi-day program with a series of one hour sessions offered each day. Students take part in wall climbing and vertical challenges, the Gorilla Gym individual swinging challenge, Ascending Lines, and challenges such as the Commando Course, Cable Ride and Obstacle Courses. Students are separated into groups by their age and complete age-appropriate activities. The initiative offers programs that engage students of all ages and abilities in climbing and ropes course activities in school gyms. Junglesport's staff supervises the activities.
Joseph PiranianConfronting Adversity, One Word at a TimeAs a lifelong stutterer, Joze shares his story of transformation in this inspirational keynote as a way for students to learn how to face their fears and embrace what makes them unique. Students learn resilience, courage, persistence, and coping skills and enhance their capacities for empathy, inclusiveness, self-expression, and self-acceptance. In sharing his story, Joze provides the tools to overcome life's obstacles alongside the wisdom that allows us to see them as opportunities for personal betterment; that our fears and insecurities cease to control us when we choose to act in spite of them. Keynote can also be presented in French, Spanish, Arabic, and Armenian.
Join The Dance CanadaDancing ClassroomsThrough Ballroom Dancing learning students in grades 5 - 8 heighten their dance skills, kinesthetic and cognitive development, and social-emotional learning. Through a series of sessions that nurtures mastery of an art form in a fun learning environment, Dancing Classrooms fosters respect, teamwork, confidence, politeness, a sense of joy and accomplishment. Essentially, the series is designed to “teach life skills wrapped up in ballroom dance.” Engaging in ballroom dancing focuses children’s physical energies and increases health through the joy of movement. Workshops create safe spaces of inclusivity. After a series of sessions, a culminating event for the school community is organized. The effect of Ballroom Dancing on students’ social-emotional learning become apparent to their parents with the events demonstration of their enhanced cooperative and collaborative skill, social confidence, self-discipline, focus, and enthusiastic engagement.
Job TalksSkilled Trade SecretsA dynamic assembly that opens the eyes to the secret world of skilled trade careers and how to get started. Jon Callegher, a millennial sociologist and college professor, showcases different areas of the skilled trades, shares the latest data on what motivates career choices, and reveals five major benefits to working in the skilled trades and construction industry. The assembly incorporates Job Talks’ high impact video interviews of passionate tradespeople and introduces the concept of "balanced intelligence" to help change mindsets toward the trades among students, educators and parents.
Joanne WeitzmanLet it Go! Mindfulness ServicesAn early-years focused workshop on mindfulness, resiliency and well-being. Workshop covers emotional and self-regulation skills, techniques to practice calm and relaxation, mindful movement, meditation and yoga poses. Sessions incorporate play-based activities, breathing and movement exercises and sensory exploration that are easy to learn for younger audiences. Parent education and staff professional learning are also available.
Joan BarringtonLight Hearts-Healing PlayThis resiliency workshop teaches techniques through 'clowning' to reduce students' stress and nurture well-being. Students are engaged in the program through improvisation activities i.e. role playing, theatre games in group settings, storytelling, and confidence-building activities. These exercises encourage and help develop a positive image of themselves, leading towards better relationships with their peers and the greater community. The workshop sessions are customized in order to fit the particular needs of students and educational criteria.
Jessica DubeauFreedom Dance AthleticsDance enrichment workshops provide choreography in Hip Hop, Jazz, African, Caribbean (soca, dancehall), Contemporary, Musical Theatre, and Disco styles. In a safe and encouraging environment, students learn the characteristics of each style through choreographic sequences and fundamental dance and sport movements built into exercises, routines, and rhythmic drills that provide athletic building components that are unique to dance. At the end of a workshop series, students will perform a choreographed routine that was created during the unit. To encourage problem solving skills, yoga and mindfulness sessions can be provided to focus on breathing exercises and calming experiences to assist participants with tools for everyday life.
Jeff A.D. MartinYou Are Worth ItEmpowerment assembly and leadership workshops targeted to building up and fostering character development among students. Presentation reinforces the following three points: turning your adversities into your advantages, believing in yourself, the power of self-affirmation. Jeff. A.D. Martin grew up in an underserved neighbourhood within Toronto, facing many disadvantages and can relate to the various struggles that students continue to face today. He shares his own personal stories, which includes loss through violence and also from his fifteen years in law enforcement where he has worked as a police officer within various detective roles. Workshops help students to step through their fears and build important life skills to find their life's passion.
Janice PomerDance the Moving WorldDynamic movement workshops facilitated by a dance artist and arts educator with decades of experience working in schools, with students of all ages and abilities. In the elementary programs, students build and improve upon their movement confidence, creativity, musicality, verbal and non-verbal communication skills and teamwork as they explore a variety of themes and choreographic structures. Secondary programs strengthen students' modern dance technique, performance skills and choreographic sensibilities. Dramatic movement workshops designed to deepen students’ understanding of traditional and experimental physical theatre techniques are also available.
Jane/Finch Community and Family CentreFields to ParksThis free program enhances ecological literacy through a park design project for select elementary schools in Learning Centre 2. Students learn design components of a public space as well as equitable, ecological and sustainable models to address community need. Students identify problems in their local park using a design-thinking process and facilitators guide students to take concrete steps to address the issues and work to a solution. Program entails exploring and documenting the space (photography and sketching), creating surveys for class participation, sketching a prototype of their impact project, and presentation of the impact project to the school community. To help schools build capacity following project completion, facilitators support teachers to expand or modify the program in the second year and have regular check-ins. Teacher resources and lesson plans are available.
Jane Goodall Institute for WildlifeRoots and Shoots Sustainable Food InitiativeIn this program, up to 10 secondary EcoSchools take part in reducing their carbon footprint through the lens of food waste and sustainability. School-wide assemblies generate interest and excitement about the Roots and Shoots campaign, educating students on the impact our diets have on climate change and the environment. Alongside learning resources provided to schools to assist the implementation of the program, students document their progress towards food sustainability by taking photos and video to produce a video clip of their contributions. One student-made video will be awarded a professional edit and shared throughout the local community and JGI Canada to further raise awareness on sustainable foods.
James MandarinoCourage to DreamJay Mandarino shares his life story of overcoming obstacles, achieving success, and giving back to the community in this free inspirational assembly. Students hear a positive message to not let any obstacles stop them from achieving their dreams. Jay Mandarino talks about business and entrepreneurship, confidence and self-esteem and how to live with a learning disability such as dyslexia and ADHD and the life challenges these diagnoses often present. His message empowers students to strive for success in the face of adversity. Presentation is followed by a question and answer period.
Jack.orgJack TalkAn assembly-style presentation that uses contact-based education and peer-to-peer outreach to teach secondary school students about mental health and how to individually care for it. The professionally-developed curriculum helps audiences to understand what mental health is, how to identify the signs of struggle/crisis, how to seek help, and how to support a friend who may be struggling. Students receive tools, tips, and scripted stories in order to engage students to the topic of mental health. Led by post-secondary youth facilitators trained by Jack.org. Additional school resources to plan mental health initiatives are available to interested schools.

Real-world problem solving needs a new set of 3Rs: Real problems - Authentic challenges that connect classrooms to real organizations with real problems; Real people - Organizations that care what insights and your students come to by responding to student recommendations and I-Think will release a report with student insights; Replicable process - A complex problem solving process that leverages Integrative Thinking and Design Thinking to guide students. This recipe ensures that the global competencies, especially creativity, collaboration and critical thinking, and learning skills are core to every classroom.
I-ThinkI-Think Leadership Learning Programs These programs are collaboratively designed programs that build system capacity. Leveraging creative problem solving techniques like Integrative Thinking and Design Thinking, these programs support leadership growth and development that bring innovative school improvement plans to life. Workshops can support leaders in thinking differently about complex and collaborative problem solving, difficult conversations and enabling their teams and others to bring the global competencies and learning skills to life in every classroom and learning experience. Leaders will engage in reflection about their own practice to identify new ways of working. Leadership Learning programs can be initiated by central teams or superintendents, and are customized to meet the needs of the group.
I-ThinkI-Think School-based Learning Programs Equip school staff teams and teachers with the tools and mindsets to bring the global competencies and learning skills to life in your classrooms and leadership. Using the metacognition, complex problem solving and innovation process of Integrative Thinking and Design Thinking, workshops connect the tools to local school context. Workshops can focus on new ways of thinking to support local schools' improvement goals of student achievement, well-being and equity.
IRISRobots Build and LearnEnable students to be active and creative digital learners by using LEGO bricks and digital tools to solve problems and collaborate with each other. These workshops facilitated by Institute of Robotics and Intelligence Systems staff encourage a playful learning environment where students build and program a variety of fun LEGO models fitted with motors and sensors, formulate and investigate data such as how to calculate and predict distances, and how the surface area of a ship's sails affects its travel speed. By engaging in this way, students deepen their understanding of key STEM-related concepts while developing the skills to be global learners.
Inspired Initiatives Inc. Innovation & Creativity LabsProgram provides students with the skills and training to solve problems in their school and/or community. Students learn Innovation & Design Thinking process, how to use empathy to identify needs, how to effectively generate new ideas and solutions, build prototypes and testing and communicate their ideas through a pitch. Students then contextualize their learning by applying this knowledge to a real-world problem. Professional learning, "Navigating The Future of Work", is also available for staff. Inspire My YouthDesire Your Purpose, Consider Your WorthHe was 16 years-old... drugs in his pocket and three credits to his name. And a belief which told him that he had no future. This is the story of Emanuel Fletcher, an at-risk youth who was forever changed by the benefits of finding his purpose. Through the telling of his life story, and the use of rap and poetry, Emanuel delivers a motivational assembly to help students challenge their beliefs and develop a greater sense of worth and potential. Students will be given practical advice on how to overcome challenges, discover personal strengths and talents and through a three-step process, explore their sense of purpose. Inner City AngelsInterdisciplinary Arts EducationInner City Angels provides enhanced arts workshops integrating the arts with rich narratives in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics), social justice, cultural competency and health & wellbeing. Students participate in classroom-based hands-on arts activities that may include storytelling, poetry, new media, design, craft, music and visual arts. Professional learning workshops are also available for teachers, and are designed to provide practical examples of integrating the arts across the curriculum.
Inna GertsbergDraw Me A Monster This visual arts workshop focuses on developing students' creativity through drawing imaginary characters based on their classmates’ descriptions. This workshop utilizes individual, pair/group work, discussion and sharing of experiences and culminates in a presentation to the class. Presentation of favourite monsters in pop culture eases fears of monsters. Students work in pairs to identify the main characteristics of a monster and draw interpretation of each other's descriptions. The workshop culminates in each author reading the description while the illustrator reveals the drawing to the class. Art is then presented to each author; everyone makes art and receives art.
In The MixMusic & Dance Video CreationsThis project-based workshop combines Hip Hop dance with an introduction to creating a dance music video using a tablet. The facilitator begins by teaching basic choreographic dance sequences that explore rhythm, physicality and movement so students can then work in small groups to create their own dance routine. Next, the facilitator teaches the music video production process which includes how to film, record, edit and splice. Using the In The Mix music-video app, students film and edit their ensemble dance routines to create their individual dance music video. This workshop emphasizes collaboration, team work and decision-making skills through the entire project.
Igho DianaE.G.O. Spoken WordThis spoken word workshop explores elements of written and performance poetry as a creative practice. Students learn different writing techniques for self-reflection; the art of storytelling; and performance-based poetry as tools for building self-confidence and self-efficacy.
ICTCDigital DASHStudents participate in exploratory learning activities to enhance digital competencies that will open pathways towards digital careers. Activities recreate authentic scenarios to engage students to practise their critical thinking in order to solve a problem while thinking of the consequences of the solution. A variety of workshops provide knowledge on the areas of information and communications technology (ICT), cyber arts, and business skills. Ian KetekuUncover Your Hidden VoiceFacilitated by a National Slam Champion and World Poetry Slam Champion, these workshops introduce students to the spoken word form and encourage them to engage with language in new, personal, and imaginative ways. Writing skills and tools for creative expression are enhanced through the exploration of metaphor and simile, and seeing how these are successfully applied by spoken word artists through video performances. Workshops culminate with students performing their own unique spoken word pieces to the entire class.
I Challenge DiabetesDiabetes EducationA program that destigmatizes those living with diabetes and provides knowledge and supports to those students living with the disease for the entire school community. Presentation and workshops dispel myths while educating the audience on what it means to live with Type 1 Diabetes including what steps are taken to manage the disease, testing and taking insulin, self care, and use of technology to help those involved succeed. Workshops offer the basics on diabetes including how to use Glucagon to understanding Ministry's PPM 161. Parent workshops are available to provide strategies on how to support students living with diabetes to achieve school success.
I AM CompelledHope Tour Canadian Heritage comes alive for students in a memorable and impactful way. Performing arts based assembly has audiences follow the lives of three characters who take a class trip to the national museum of history. The teacher role, engages her class in First Nation, Aboriginal/Indigenous, Metis and Inuit culture and heroes. The first student is excited to learn about Canada's past, and is deeply impacted by the reality of residential schools and survivors. The other character is selfish, distracted by her electronics and can’t wait until the trip is over. After an encounter with the voice of Billy Diamond, both students have a change of heart and practice forgiveness towards themselves and others. The first character presents his discoveries in a special rap song at the end of the show, while the other character shares how she's motivated to get a good education and impact her community. A great way to kick-off the school year, celebrate heritage month, engage students in Social Studies and Indigenous learning. The performance is interactive.
Humber CollegeChild and Youth Care (CYC) Field PlacementsThis program provides field placement opportunities for students in Child and Youth Care post-secondary programs. Field placements within TDSB sites provide post-secondary students who are considering a career in their specialized area, an opportunity to gain direct experience in understanding the learning strategies employed in classrooms. Field placement students collaborate with TDSB staff to enhance their understanding of curriculum; to plan and implement activities for students; and to foster positive relationships with students, staff and parents. These placements satisfy post-secondary course requirements for field placement experience. Child and Youth Care field placement students may support TDSB students at any of the following activities: workshops; presentations; life skills development projects, campaigns and/or resources development.
Humber CollegeEarly Career Pathways in TechnologyThe program offers inquiry-based and hands-on STEAM workshops for the school community at Gracedale Public School. Audiences are introduced to DASH robots, LEGO Mindstorms and new technologies. Students, teachers and parents have an opportunity to fully explore and innovate using the robotics technologies and learn career pathways in skilled trades of technology.
Humber CollegeJazz in the SchoolsEngaging and interactive live jazz performances expose students to jazz, while exploring the history of jazz music and its connections to music around the world. Students learn the evolution of jazz music, through listening and participating in discussion about the variations of jazz music as it has fused with the rhythms, melodies and timbres of folk music from around the world. Humber CollegeOTA/PTA Field PlacementsThis program provides field placement opportunities for students in the Occupational Therapy Assistant/ Physical Therapy Assistant program at Humber College. Field placements within TDSB sites provide Humber College students who are considering a career in their specialized area, an opportunity to gain direct experience in understanding the health and wellness strategies employed in classrooms. These placements satisfy course requirements for field placement experience. Field placement students collaborate with TDSB OT/PT staff to enhance their understanding of classroom strategies; to plan and implement activities for students; and to foster positive relationships with students, staff and parents.
Human Moves Inc.Accessible Mini Ping Pong Program is suitable for all grades and abilities. It provides specially designed tables, racquets and ping pong pickup tools, targets and containers of different size. Students learn ball movements, direction control, deflection, bounce control, catching and targeting. Progression moves to racquet and ball timing. As students get more advanced, students learn rally challenges with others, 50 rally challenge, forehand/backhand rally switching providing foundation skills. All participants are given achievable motivational challenges according to their abilities. The design of equipment is wheelchair friendly and can accommodate a wide spectrum of disabilities including movement disorders and cognitive challenges.
Hockey CanadaTry HockeyThis program offers an opportunity for students to try hockey, removing barriers to participation, so students enhance team building, confidence, physical health and well-being. Certified coaches deliver the program in the school gymnasium followed by an on-ice event. Students will participate actively and engage in a variety of movement competencies, and demonstrate an understanding of the value of regular physical activity in their daily lives. With follow-up communication, coaches provide further support to maximize sustainability and teacher resources are made available including access to Hockey Canada’s academic lesson plans and 10 week floorball lesson plan.
High ResolvesCreating Global Citizens and LeadersFour peak experiences exploring Identity & Purpose, Just Society, Social Progress and Better Self are available to strengthen the development of global competencies. The participatory design of the peak experiences enables the decisions of the participants to drive the learning and provides the space for them to transform how they think about the world, locally and globally. Specific themes of collective identity, independent thinking, social justice, social advocacy, collective action, inclusive leadership, personal impact and effective collaboration are examined across three spheres of action: friends and family, community and bigger world. Through a series of immersive and interactive activities, students are pushed to think through how society influences how we understand and categorize ourselves and others and how this impacts our interactions, particularly with those who are different from us. Students are challenged to think critically about what kind of world they want, what in our current world, both locally and globally, needs to be addressed and the role they need to play in creating a more inclusive and equitable society. Students develop a reflective capacity, becoming more aware and present to the impact of their choices, and learn to work effectively with others in creating positive change. Each module is mapped to the goals of Ontario’s Ministry of Education curriculum and Citizenship Education Framework.
Henry AgassiWe are more Alike than We are DifferentHenry Agassi's motivational speech aims on improving students' self-esteem and self-confidence through sharing his life story as a newcomer from Nigeria. Sharing his stories of overcoming obstacles inspires students' sense of belonging and self-efficacy. They are encouraged to resist peer pressure and become committed to denouncing discrimination through increasing anti-bullying strategies in their school communities. Henry inspires students to move away from believing any stigma that they may have experienced to believe in themselves and make positive choices; to take responsibility for the self-discipline that leads to health and well-being. Practical tools are provided for students to celebrate diversity and promote social inclusion in their school through encouraging peer unity and friendship. (African heritage)
Hélène Nicole RichardGotta Love That FrenchHélène Nicole offers a live one-hour bilingual performances in French and English to encourage students to appreciate the French language and cultures. Specific performances and presentations change every two years. Two, ongoing popular performances are: "Quand je serai grand"; and, The Carnival Show. The goal of the presentations remains the same: to increase students’ appreciation of the French language, French immersion and Francophone cultures.
Heart Of A Man Ltd.Create PeaceThis interactive motivational assembly provides an inspirational anti-bullying and well-being message through the use of dramatic arts, Hip Hop and music. Themes of respect, empathy, leadership, and resilience are covered. A band of musicians share personal stories of overcoming life challenges while performing original hip hop songs and dramatic skits. Students learn strategies to address bullying, develop better communication and coping strategies and foster well-being for oneself and others. This assembly also touches on defining one’s own struggles, overcoming them with passion and ultimately finding one’s purpose in life.
HBKRCommunication and Writing Aids ServiceThe Communication and Writing Aids Service (CWAS) program includes an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) service and a Writing Aids (WA) service. AAC provides consultative support to children in the classroom and at home when their speech does not meet their face-to-face communication needs. WA provides technological support (laptop and specialized software) to children who use natural speech as their primary means of communication, but are unable, due to a physical disability, to write with pen and paper functionally. Students who use AAC may also need a WA. Holland Bloorview CWA staff collaborate with the TDSB School Support Team (SST), including the Speech Language Pathologist, Occupational and/or Physical Therapist, Principal, and teacher to determine an appropriate AAC and/or WA system and to facilitate the mutually agreed upon system into the classroom.

Hands on Exotics Inc.Amazing Living World of BirdsThis highly interactive presentation takes students on an avian tour around the world using a variety of species of birds. By being presented with multiple species of birds up close and personal, students hold, pet, feed and observe the animals' behaviours and traits. Trained facilitators guide students through the inquiry process to come to conclusions themselves about diet and habitat by examining the different beak shapes, toe formations, feathers, colours and size. In addition, students learn about native species of birds including every day good habits they can follow to be good neighbours to our wildlife, how to help with backyard conservation as well as discuss the consequences of being responsible agents to our natural resources.
Griffin CentreIntensive Child and Family Services (ICFS)The Intensive Child and Family Service (ICFS) program provides an accessible service that takes place in the home, school, or community for youth whose school or home placement is at risk of breakdown due to mental health and other issues. The ICFS worker works one-one-one with the youth to support their optimal functioning based on goals from the youth’s treatment plan. ICFS may support the youth to connect to needed community resources, including other Griffin Centre services.
Griffin CentreReachOUTReachOUT is a creative, inclusive and accessible program that supports lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, transsexual, intersex, queer, questioning and two-spirited (LGBTTQQI2S) youth. The program provides individual, family and group services, as well as educational workshops and events. It provides enhanced opportunities for youth engagement projects in selected schools, such as supporting the development and maintenance of Gay-Straight Alliances in those schools.
Griffin CentreSchool Focused Workers (SFW)The School Focused Workers(SFW) program provides an accessible counselling service that takes place in the home, school or community for youth who have been identified by TDSB Social Workers due to mental health issues and other needs that require Griffin Centre supports. SFWs works with the youth and their family to support their optimal functioning and sense of belonging in the school and neighbourhood community, based on goals established within the youth’s treatment plan. SFWs may support the youth to connect with appropriate community resources and services.
Griffin CentreWhatever It Takes (WIT)'Whatever It Takes' (WIT) provides service coordination and transitional support to children and youth who have mental health issues and have complex service needs. WIT provides many services such as interim intensive case management, facilitation of community planning, clinical consultation and one-on-one support within student’s treatment plan to transition into a classroom or maintain the student effectively in the classroom until a more appropriate school placement or day treatment placement can be arranged. WIT facilitates the collaboration of service providers to respond to children/youth with complex needs or to those whose needs exceed the ability and capacity of any one service provider or sector.
Griffin CentreYouth Outreach Workers (YOW) This program provides outreach and support for referred youth who are identified as having a dual diagnosis or developmental disability, and who identify as LGBTQ. It connects these youth with community resources to meet their immediate needs (such as employment, health, housing, recreation). Youth Outreach Workers are also available for presentations in secondary schools to increase all students' understanding of mental health and the local school community's engagement in issues of equity and social inclusion.
Greenpeace CanadaGreenspeakersFree presentations enhance student knowledge and motivation on critical environmental topics such as climate change/crisis, the Arctic, boreal and rain forests, biodiversity, plastics, economic development/environmental impact, and personal environmental awareness/engagement. Thought provoking and interactive, the presentations engage on both an intellectual and emotional level so that the students brainstorm ideas for practical, and actionable solutions.

Schools will work with a facilitator who will investigate and respond to traffic related concerns and provide traffic management support. The program will offer solutions to identified safety concerns and schools will receive a comprehensive School Action Plan, Routes to School map and other strategies and tools to provide students and families with safe routes and active transportation options. The School Traffic Management program applies a comprehensive approach to traffic management by engaging a wide-range of stakeholders that include the school board, municipal transportation planners and engineers, public health, police, parents, students and school staff, workable solutions are found. The Program supports TDSB’s Charter for Active, Safe and Sustainable Transportation and Implementation Plan.

Through the use of choreography, character development, and story within a hip-hop and/or musical theatre style of dance, this workshop offers an interactive, creative, and fun way for students to build empathy, express themselves artistically, and learn about global citizenship. If multiple workshops are booked, stories based on the chosen issue will be assigned as exercises for students to write in the point-of-view of a character in the story, further cultivating their compassion and empathy, in addition to their creativity and writing skills.

These innovative, award-winning sessions occur in a 30-seat, wheelchair accessible, mobile human rights education center housed in an RV, designed to bring programming directly to schools across Ontario. They incorporate multimedia and surround sound that provides students with a rich and interactive learning experience, further engaging their interest and involvement. (Each T4H session is approximately 45 to 60 minutes in length. Emil SherUnpacking the Holocaust: A Playwright's JourneyThis multimedia presentation weaves still images and video footage from the acclaimed stage production of Hana's Suitcase, which chronicles the short life of a girl killed in Auschwitz. What are the challenges, the choices, the considerations when history is honoured and dramatized on stage? How far into the darkness of the Holocaust do you go when children are in the audience? How can sets, costumes, masks, slides and silence give voice to an unspeakable tragedy? These are some of the questions that are explored by playwright Emil Sher in a presentation that is capped by a discussion where students are tasked with making a moral choice about who to shelter in wartime. Students also learn about the creative process in transforming history into a stage play and the connections between art and history.

RISE program staff address and support issues that young people are facing on a regular basis. Students develop workshop materials on bullying, cyber-bullying, mental health and stigma and conflict resolution which are then facilitated to their peers in grades 7-12. Workshops teach students strategies to communicate and manage bullying and situations where conflict may occur, how to effectively address bullying both as a victim and as a positive bystander. These workshops may be suitable for Special Education students.
Down to Earth EducationScience and Geography Alive!A variety of interactive presentations and unique artefact displays on topics related to the environment. Presentations promote empathy and respect for nature and people through enhancing cultural and environmental awareness. Using engaging visuals and diverse displays, students learn about interdependence and threats to ecosystems, by travelling through rainforests, exploring oceans, or deepening their understanding of endangered species. Presentations include the following: Oceans Alive! ; Swamps Alive! ; Coral Reefs & Tide Pools ; Forests Alive! ; The Buzz on Bees ; Water is Life!
Djennie LaguerreWords in Movement: Dance, Theater, StorytellingAn interactive dance and storytelling workshop to enable students to create their own story. The storytelling workshop uses drama, music, song, dance, word games to enhance students’ communication skills and theatre skills. The dance workshop uses Afro-Caribbean beats and music to enable the students to not only learn about francophone Afro-Caribbean culture but also learn to create a brand new choreography. The workshops series culminates in a class performance. Workshop is offered in English or French.

David facilitates Canada's Truth & Reconciliation, Calls to Action. Through First Nations stories and Native flutes, poetry and writing, this champion of reading and literacy; and advocate for youth teaches and inspires students, educators and parents. In April 2009, David was named as a Member of the Order of Canada. In Oshawa, in 2012, the David Bouchard Public School opened its doors. In 2017, David was honoured with an Honorary Doctoral of Law degree by Queen's University.
Daniel Consulting GroupThe BridgeThis workshop series is available for participants who racially identify as African, Black and Caribbean, to support personal, academic and career development through the use of a wide range of life-skills programming. The Bridge program centralizes the development of positive racial and academic identities which have been shown to enhance academic engagement and success. Workshop themes will include understanding racial identity; leadership development; networking; community engagement; academic and career planning. These supports and skills will help participants more concretely explore post-secondary decisions and long-term career planning.
dancED Movement ProjectDancing Toward Confidence, Creativity and Self-expressionThese dance workshops are facilitated by professional dancers to provide an opportunity for students to unleash their creative potential. Three main programs are Hip-Hop, multidiscipline and dance and theatre. Through choreographic sequences and improvisational techniques, students explore rhythm, physicality, movement and spatial and emotional awareness. Students not only enhance their dance technique and repertoire but also experience the process of creating their own steps and developing a performance from start to finish culminating in a showcase for their peers and/or community.
