|EMG Education Company||African Canadian History Theatre||EMG Education presents dynamic theatrical productions that focus on Canadian history and its contributions by Black Canadians and women. All productions are original works, written by a female African Canadian playwright. The 45-minute production takes students on a journey of celebration and appreciation of the black historical figures that have helped change the fabric of this great nation. Using multimedia, the performance weaves contemporary issues and messages of diversity and inclusion, within the context of Canadian history. It is a pedagogy recognized by UNESCO. Mixed Company Theatre provides interactive productions and workshops using this method to address such issues as bullying, inclusion, mental health awareness, sexual consent, homophobia and transphobia. Presentation addresses what the products are, their categories, physical and mental impacts, short and long term impacts and strategies for harm reduction. Facilitators address the causes of use and indicators that people may be using substances and ways to get help. A question and answer will follow each presentation. |

|North Toronto Soccer Club||Soccer Play||Free workshop to enhance soccer training for elementary students. Qualified and licensed coaches help students develop their physical literacy and soccer skills through fun games and learning activities and drills. |Canadian Mental Health Association CMHA||The Opening Doors Project ||Free workshops provide an overview of mental health and illness and examine on a deeper level mental health issues on racism, diversity and anti-racism, identities in the Canadian context, and the newcomer experience. Through popular theatre and storytelling, students discuss the struggles and challenges for those living with mental illnesses and learn to develop strategies for dealing with discrimination and self-care when dealing with stress.
Workshop include: Building Bridges: Anti-Racism 101, Understanding Migration, Mental Health and Wellness 101, Stress and Self-Care in Context, Starting From the 'I': Reflecting On Our Identities; and Know Your Rights 101.

|Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center (Ont) Inc.||From Yoga Mat to Peaceful Classroom||From Yoga Mat to Peaceful Classroom introduces yoga, breathing and mindfulness techniques. The program can be adapted for multiple levels and all age groups for students in elementary and high schools. It can be delivered online, in a space that accommodates mats, as well as in a traditional classroom with students sitting at their desks. Through mindful movement, relaxation exercises and meditation, students develop social-emotional and life skills that enhance their health and well-being. The program can also include professional development workshops for teachers and support staff that provide guidance in delivering simple yoga and mindfulness techniques to students. |Never Too Short Productions||Film In A Day||Full day hands-on workshop offers the opportunity for students to explore all aspects of filmmaking including script writing, exploration of equipment and techniques required to create a film. This comprehensive workshop emphasizes four key components to consider when making a film: storytelling, writing, presentation and use of equipment. The facilitator also discusses the editing process, and software that accompanies it. The goal of the workshop is not only for students to create a short film, but also to provide them with a solid understanding of the film industry's practices, standards and careers.|

In person or virtual sessions are delivered by professional filmmakers, providing students with the opportunity to create stop motion, claymation, short films or digital arts. |Alpha Rhythm Roots||African Musical Journey||Guinean and African music, dance, traditions and culture are explored in these African drum circle and dance sessions. Presentations discuss the Guinean percussion orchestra, manufacturing and origins of instruments and history alongside live demonstrations of the instruments played. Performances bring history alive through full traditional outfits, drumming and dancing to the entire school. Workshops provide students the opportunity to participate in collective drumming and dance that develop teamwork, memorization, hand coordination and creativity. |Jane Goodall Institute for Wildlife||Roots and Shoots Sustainable Food Initiative||In this program, up to 10 secondary EcoSchools take part in reducing their carbon footprint through the lens of food waste and sustainability. School-wide assemblies generate interest and excitement about the Roots and Shoots campaign, educating students on the impact our diets have on climate change and the environment. Alongside learning resources provided to schools to assist the implementation of the program, students document their progress towards food sustainability by taking photos and video to produce a video clip of their contributions. One student-made video will be awarded a professional edit and shared throughout the local community and JGI Canada to further raise awareness on sustainable foods.
|Raging Asian Women Taiko Drummers||Taiko Drumming Performances and Workshops||In this Taiko drumming performance presented by a performing arts ensemble made up of East and Southeast Asian women, non-binary, and genderqueer people, audiences will experience both traditional and contemporary Taiko drumming pieces, learn the historical and creative contexts behind them, and enhance their understanding of Japanese culture and Asian history. Through each undeniably strong, yet nimble percussive sound that is generated from the orchestra of drums played in rhythm, students will witness both the strength of force that sound is capable of, and likewise find that same potential within themselves to be heard. Taiko drumming workshops that further enhance student learning are also available.|
|Canadian Roots Exchange||Histories of Colonization||In this workshop, secondary school students begin to learn about the histories of colonization as experienced by various Indigenous communities on this land. Facilitators connect things that have happened in ‘history’ to things that are going on now. Students learn about how systems, policies, and laws are connected to discrimination faced by people every day. To understand the modern issues that First Nations, Metis and Inuit face, students must know the history of violence and oppression that led their people to their current realities.
|Parachute Leaders in Injury Prevention||Parachute Brain Waves||Injury Prevention focused neuroscience presentations enhance students' understanding about different parts of the brain; basic neuroscience vocabulary; and, how and why it's important to protect their brain and spinal cord. Classrooms are turned into laboratories, where students conduct science experiments involving the five senses that tie into lessons on neuroanatomy and the fragility of this amazing system. Students study the lobes of the brain and learn that the brain has the same consistency as gelatin and is protected by a skull that is only as thick as a pencil. They learn simple strategies to prevent injury.
|Inner City Angels||Interdisciplinary Learning with Artists||Inner City Angels provides enhanced arts workshops integrating the arts with rich narratives in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics), social justice, cultural competency and health & wellbeing. Elementary classes participate in arts activities with professional artists in-person or through video-conferencing that may include storytelling, poetry, new media, design, craft, music and visual arts. The emotional intelligence workshops focus on illuminating those insecurities and combating them with practical alternatives that can be applied to realistic situations each participant will be faced with. Six key virtues that is the basis of the program and that contribute to the emotional and well-being of youth are: Perspective, Courage, Humility, Integrity, Boldness and Vision. Sessions are culturally relevant and build critical consciousness in students who self-identify as Black/from marginalized communities.|

EcoSpark facilitators, through in-person or by video conferencing, lead hypothesis driven research and data collection workshops for students and teachers on their school grounds. Students learn to use scientific protocols to monitor and assess the health of local terrestrial and aquatic environments and then contribute their findings to relevant citizen science projects; shared with scientists around the world. The gumboots dance originated in South Africa and was developed by miners using rhythm and dance in concert with percussive stomping to communicate and express ideas as well as themselves. Students learn the history and cultural development of the style, learn basic steps and choreography, and have the opportunity to collaborate in the creation of a routine. Jay Mandarino talks about business and entrepreneurship, confidence and self-esteem and how to live with a learning disability such as dyslexia and ADHD and the life challenges these diagnoses often present. |Hong Fook Mental Health Association||Wraparound: Making Healthy Choices||Led by Hong Fook Youth Program Worker, the CHOICES program, serving Asian students from grades 7 – 12 helps youth to create new social connections and strengthen peer to peer relationships. Through games, group work and discussion, youths are able to develop strategies with a focus on different life skills, including communication, healthy relationships, stress management, wellness, decision-making, and goal-setting. The Youth Outreach Worker is available to provide individualized programs to meet the at-risk youth’s needs as well as be available for presentations with school communities to increase all students' understanding of mental health, available resources, and the local school community's engagement in issues of equity and social inclusion.

Workshops include "Kindergarten Drama Workshops", an active and creative movement workout; "Firefly Story Theatre Project", a drama and storytelling project, over a series of sessions, that collects and dramatizes students' original stories. |IndigenEd||IndigenEd||Led by Veronica Johnny, in-person or video-conferencing assemblies and workshops focus on personal healing and growth to help participants tune into their intuition and artistic gifts. As a healer and Two-Spirit musician, Veronica Johnny shares traditional teachings and drum songs on solo hand drum for students to have a better understanding of Indigenous teachings, music and perspectives. Workshops delve deeper into traditional Indigenous percussive techniques, origin of songs, protocols, leading songs and cultural context while providing a safe space for expression and music-making.|
|Live Lujo Inc.||Sewing Studio||Libraries, gyms or classrooms are transformed into creative maker space by an 'All Star' team. A Sewing Studio that disrupts stereotypes and biases about who can sew and who can express themselves artistically. Sessions focus on confidence, skill-building, mentorship, equity and most of all, inclusion. All students leave the studio with a feeling of accomplishment in having completed a design and sewing project. Instructors, who are male role models , provide an engaging introduction to frame the session within the context of "Confidence Building" when learning new skills and new creative ways to express themselves. Personal stories of overcoming barriers are shared. Each student is inspired and encouraged to make their own creative choices in materials and adornments for the project, at the " Creation Station ". Projects vary by age group; all intentionally contribute to students' sense of self-efficacy. Each student learns how to sew on a sewing machine. |

Through interactive teaching circles, she brings focus and better understanding of Anishinaabe cultural teachings that are centered around the Indigenous world views of traditional roles of women and men, rites of passage of girls and boys, 7 stages of life, 7 grandfathers story and teachings, understanding of water, traditional use of medicines and 13 moon grandmother teachings. Indigenous arts workshops include songs, games and interactive teaching circles. Professional learning available to teachers. |
|Mad Science of Toronto||Science & Technology Workshops||Mad Science Curriculum Based Workshops introduce elementary students to the wonders of science through hands-on and interactive live experiments. These in-class workshops support students and teachers to explore science, technology, engineering and the environment and to make connections between science and the wonders of the world around them. Mad Science offers 26 different, exciting and interactive workshops that enhance the Science and Technology curriculum for elementary student. Their professionally trained presenters are excellent in creating experiences that encourage children to pursue the sciences throughout their secondary and post secondary studies.|
|West African Cultural Exchange||African Traditional Music (Drumming, Dancing and Singing)||Master Drummer Fred Kwasi Dunyo leads workshops that are designed to fully immerse students in African culture through music, rhythm, song and dance. Step-by-step instructions provide opportunity to progressively advance students' musical skills while fostering team building and self-confidence. Five instruments are featured: kpanlogo drums, gankogui (bell), axatse (shaker), fritsiwa (finger bell), tokei (bell). Facilitator brings instruments for full classroom participation (if required). Workshop series provides an opportunity for students to showcase their learning to the school community. Professional learning is also available.
These workshops are an enhancement to TDSB Community Music Program for those schools that wish to further enhance their learning beyond the 3 classroom visits.
|Rumberos||Cuban-Brazilian Drumming and Dance||Master Rumbero Joaquín Núñez Hidalgo leads performances and workshops on Cuban/Brazilian drumming, music and dance. Students learn cultural history, relationship between music, dance, costume and other forms of Latin arts. Practical demonstration of how the music is executed using traditional instruments are first shown followed by an exploration of the traditional instruments by students. Facilitator brings all instruments for full classroom participation. Students enhance their performance and ensemble skills while gaining a rich knowledge of Cuban/Brazilian music and culture. Traditional dance steps and choreography are explored in the dance workshops.
These workshops are an enhancement to TDSB Global Music Program for those schools that wish to further enhance their learning beyond the 8 week classroom visits.
